The strands (or stomata to use a potato metaphor) of the project are held together by the solar-powered website and archive. Held on a raspberry pi, powered by solar energy (gathered by reused solar panels from a previous project), the website and archive are extremely low-data and as such are a model for documenting other large-scale projects.

The website provides a home for the various components of the project. It also includes an image archive of our time in Arles and our work on the various components of Objects as Temporal Entities. The images have been dithered to reduce their size, and the archive is organized so that it can be explored in multiple ways. Each pathway through the archive is described as a variety of potato. For example:

  • Belmonda / MULTIPLICITY exemplifies the copy, the iteration or mediation across our multifaceted work. The Belmonda potato is a high yield variety. Belonda’s commitment to proliferation speaks to our work making ceramic potato replicas, risograph prints and digital potatoes.
  • In Blackleg / DECAY, sift through the entropic breakdown of matter which is celebrated in Objects as Temporal Entities. Blackleg, a potato disease caused by Pectobacterium atrosepticum bacteria, is the archivist’s symbol for decomposition, a natural life cycle of material breakdown.

The website and archive can be accessed at www.archivetemporal.com
between 9am and 5pm EST. In times of low light (i.e. short and dark winter days) viewing times may be even further circumscribed.
