International Forum on the Sustainability of Cultural Institutions
26 – 28 September 2025
Santa Sofia (IT) | New York (USA) | Guangzhou (CHN) | and online on YouTube, in Italian, English, and Chinese.
From 26 to 28 September 2025, the first International Forum on the Sustainability of Cultural Institutions will take place: a hybrid, multi-site event bringing together professionals, scholars, and researchers from all over the world to discuss the future of cultural institutions and their enduring vitality. The Forum will be held in person in Santa Sofia (Forlì-Cesena, Italy), at the Vero Stoppioni Municipal Gallery of Contemporary Art; in New York during Climate Week on Governors Island, with a roundtable coordinated by MOFAD – the Museum of Food and Drink; and in Guangzhou (China), with a roundtable organized in collaboration with the Institute of Digital Art and Technology of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, hosted at the Songshan Lake Boxes Art Museum in Dongguan. A small town in the heart of the Romagna Apennines, at the foot of the Casentino Forests National Park, Santa Sofia becomes the originating hub of a global crossroads of ideas and visions, capable of connecting local contexts with international scenarios.
The Forum, promoted by the Municipality of Santa Sofia, the Emilia-Romagna Region, and the Foreste Casentinesi National Park, is organized by Institution, a startup founded in 2024 by contemporary art curator Fabio Cavallucci, together with an international team of young professionals active in the fields of art, culture, and economics.
Institution is an organization that develops innovative systems for culture, integrating digital technologies such as Virtual Reality and Artificial Intelligence to create artistic events and interventions both online and in person. In 2025, it was commissioned by the Municipality of Santa Sofia to oversee the artistic activities of the Vero Stoppioni Contemporary Art Gallery and the Sculpture Park, a task it has undertaken from the outset by placing ecological and social sustainability at the center and by working actively with the local community. Institution’s goal is to propose new ways of accessing and experiencing art and to stimulate dialogue on contemporary issues, bringing the public closer to today’s artistic and cultural landscape.
